New Delhi: The actor and the leader of the BJP Mithun Chakraborty were interviewed by the police in Bengal today in a controversy on one of his speeches during the Bengal election campaign.
The 71-year-old actor, who was among the STARs of the BJP in the April-May election, was interviewed practically by the Kolkata police as part of a case laid down against him on a speech. He did on March 7 after joining the party. A first information report (FIR) alleges that the speech played a role in inciting post-survey violence in Bengal after the verdict of May 2, which gave a victory to the Trinamool of Mamata Baneerjee.
Mithun Chakraborty went to the Calcutta High Court to get the annulled tree. The Court then ordered an investigation to interrogate virtually the actor.
The actor pleaded that he had only claimed cinema dialogues in his speech and they were not supposed to be literal.
